Photography was one of my favorite parts of the job at the newspaper where I began my career in journalism in the late 70s but as I moved on, reporting and writing predominated. I still carried my camera and a bag of equipment when my wife and I traveled. These days, I'm retired and basically a hobbyist. Think I have a decent eye but sadly, my processing skills never quite caught up, especially now with digital, although I at least have time to work on it. Lots of good information and great photos here to inspire me. Here are some nighttime shots I took this week.
Welcome! Next time you post check the “store original” box. Looking at a thumb nail vs the original is quite different. Plus, the thumb nail contains no EXIF data if you want help.
Pretty nice shots. What are you using to get night shots like that?

As fitting my handle, older stuff. Nikon D7000 with a Nikkor 12-24 F4. Tripod and cable release. In addition to solar lights in photos, a small hand-held solar spotlight for fill.
That's interesting. I use a D7100 and some newer stuff, but I also have a D200 that I use on a more or less regular basis. Looking at the photos I couldn't tell that there was any fill light used. I guess that means you know what you're doing. I look forward to seeing some more of your posts.
Thanks for your response.
