This is a good way to honor your folks. I'm sorry that you are without either parent now. I hope to figure out something as meaningful when my mother joins my father. Their ashes will probably rest on their former property (now my sister's) near Fairplay, CO, not so far from your parents.

Thanks for your condolences. I took too long letting go but it was the right thing to do.

Mike, - - - everyone is different about letting go concerning loved ones. I lost my Wife in May of 2015. I still wear my wedding ring and a smaller ring that is engraved "Carol and Bob Forever", that I took off of Her finger and slipped it on my little finger next to my wedding ring. They will probably be there until I'm in my grave unless someone removes them. I lost my beloved Silver Shaded Persian Cat to heart congestion 2 days short of the 3rd year anniversary of losing Carol. The last thing I do every night is tell both of them goodnight and how much I miss them and every morning as I put my glasses on and look at their pictures on my night stand is tell them good morning. Sometimes it makes me wonder if I'm being silly, but I don't want to stop doing it. They may be watching. So don't feel like you waited to long to let go. I don't think We ever let go, We just eventually get to the point of acceptance.

My mother grew up in Leadville, Colorado over 100 years ago. She loved it there, but left to go to nursing school. She and my father visited often and expressed the desire that their ashes be placed there. This week, their wishes were fulfilled. Attached is where she lived (house long gone) and what they overlook while they are together forever.

Mike, excellent photo and I am glad that you were able to fulfill thier wishes. You are an excellent son.

You're a good son Mike. I think most people could only wish be with the one they love until the end of time in such a magnificent place.

This reminds me of the end of the movie Where the Lilies Bloom. A story of a poor family in the Appalachian mountains. The father is buried on top of a mountain close to their home. The eldest child in visiting the grave site says "Oh, this is a fair place to spend eternity. The air smells like honeysuckle and wind in the pine trees makes a joysome sound".
You're a good son Mike. I think most people could ... (show quote)
