Hmm . Mr Loc chico California. No one is judging.
Pursue your art . Pursue your passion. Spend your money on a 100mp camera or any way you want .
No one is stopping you . No one is judging you .

"No one is judging you"LOL have you read the previous 7 pages?
and........... for the record "Spend your money on a 100mp camera" is pejorative.

No amateur Photographer NEEDS more than 24MP - but a little headroom is sure nice to have, eh, Daniel?
Pros, though - who shoot full page spreads - such as the ones in ELLE, I'm sure - are happy to have access to 100MP … the higher the res you have, in that arena - the more spreads you can sell ….
I disagee. I know hobbyst, mostly shooting 'scapes, who love to see their photographs displayed as very large images, or even murals, in hotels and motels.
They say it is a good feeling when you see your photographs used like this.

I'd bet that these same 'who needs that many' questions were asked by the 4 or 6 MP owners when the 1st 12 MP cameras came out
and that question was valid. In the early days of digital I established that 6mp was roughly equivalent to what Kodachrome 25 was giving me; 24mp gives me much more detail.

And for the people who used to shoot large format, 24 mp does not cut it.
Been waiting 30 years for digital equivalent

Sorry but most of you could not look at it as it may have the creators name on it!

Please cite your source for this assertion: "But for the utmost quality and detail, most pros still rely on the good old film!"
From what this photographer understands of the recent history of photography, digital means surpassed film means about a decade ago. In turn, most all pros have turned to digital means of photography. Technological advance in doing photography has meant improvement in image quality as well as far more control over the captured image. Both my reading of magazines, books, and online presentations tells me so.
Hence, the medium of film has become obsolescent. It now fills a niche in photography not unlike earlier means of this human activity. So we can expect film photography to continue in the hands of individuals who prefer it for their own good reasons.

No the medium film has not become obsolescent, in fact its resurging at quite a pace. Yes, many a pros are using digital hassies and other MF digital cameras, but when a job does call for the utmost in IQ and detail, there is still nothing out there that does beat the good old large format film cameras, and that's why they are still being used in those circumstances!
This camera piqued my curiosity. It's a nice piece of machinery and in all beautiful handiwork. However! My terrific and extremely tolerant wife picked my brain apart. It started with "What are you thinking?" Then, it hopped over to, "you're not going to earn money for you photographs!" Finally, it ended with, "look, we have two children in college. We can't afford it so get over it and stop drooling!!!" My dear Hoggers, I am concluding my wonderful partner of 30 years is amazing on point. This camera in spite of its bells and whistles, is out of my budget for my talent as a hobbyist.
Whom ever makes the plunge, enjoy it. You have earned it!!!

How did you construct or find a 200MP system??
Been around for long time, Hassie has a 200mp, there is a 400mp camera for more than 20 years! Foeveon had a 50mp camera in 2000, before they sold out to Sigma!
The ladies do call us to our senses at the right moment.

If a man or women has not learned how to not make a fool of themselves without partner watching over them then it is babysitting

Call it what you will, I can be impulsive and appreciate being reined in when the situation calls for it. Being comfortable in our relationship, and in my own skin, her help is not offensive to me. Babysitting is a pejorative term that ill fits when your partner is trying to help you.
" any thoughts on the 100 mp,, "
I started this conversation. I was in the market for a new camera. I'm sure there's a time and a place for such camaras. If I were a professional and such a Camara would add dollars to my bottom line, I would have bought it . But I'm retired and loving it. Don't want to make my joy of a hobby into ' work ' .
I settled on the Sony a7r3 . At 42 mp , it's plenty good enough. Even for pro work .
