I'm not sure what shots you "wanted", but I think you got some exceptional shots. Nicely done. I especially like #3 and think that if a little of the black background above and below Sir Paul were edited out that that photo would be "Rolling Stone" worthy. The way Paul is isolated and the lighting make for one great shoot.

An interesting take on it. The photo is cropped but I kept the 3x2 perspective and wanted to keep some space on either side. I could just free hand crop to take out some top and bottom. I may play around and try b&w even. I do think it shows to some extent why you often hear about getting flash off camera for contrast. The spotlight served as one big side light. I appreciate your feedback.

Given the limitations, those are great shots!

I really like the "silhouette" look of #2. The capture of his profile and the complimentary angle of the guitar work quite well together. And, in any event, you were pretty darn close to the action!

Took these photos last week when Sir Paul played in Moline, Illinois. Camera rule for the concert was any camera that fit in your front pocket. All I had that fit the bill was my Sony Rx100 vi. Very capable camera but my seat location to the side and slightly behind him limited my ability to get shots I wanted. I wanted to get my Sony RX10 iv in for better zoom range and ability to use external mic. (I took some video for posting on Youtube.) Any way, I wish I had a pair of cargo shorts. Would have worked I think.

Very nice shots. I like shooting from the side of he stage, but it usually very limiting. Local people very anti-camera at paid venues. Catch-all rule is "No-go, that looks like a professional camera."
Do you find that singers often have their eyes closed?

Eyes closed sometimes yes. I usually shoot bursts to guard against catching them blinking. On slower songs, yes, they can have eyes closed a lot.
I called the venue day of show and said if camera fits in pocket and no detachable lens then OK

Those are excellent shots. Saw him a couple of years ago here in DC, my favorite concert ever!
