I listen to a lot of George Formby, and one of his songs was "Blackpool Rock." Is that candy still being made and sold? Is it available all around the country or just in the Blackpool area?
Yes Jerry seaside rock as it is called is still available from most coastal resorts.
As you are probably aware it has the name of the resort all the way through the middle of the rock.

With George Formby it was definitely a euformism. He was a cheeky little bugger.
Yes Jerry, it's still made and sold by the ton by several rock makers, not only in Blackpool either most UK seaside resorts make their own rock. I live only a few miles from Blackpool and the stuff is available nearly everywhere.

Years ago you always came back from a seaside resort with sticks of rock for the younger members of your friends and family, but it has lost its appeal somewhat as it is mostly made from sugar and other teeth rotting additives, but Blackpool still has many shops selling sticks of rock.

Amazing! Lots of manual labor - and no latex gloves.
Dang! A fella has to be in pretty good shape to make Blackpool Rock.
