Indian paintbrush abstracted (two images)

In the first version I used Photoshop to isolate a limited range of colors, turning a bland snapshot into something that I think is a lot more interesting. The second is a color inversion of the original. I'm curious about the reaction of UHH members to these sorts of manipulation.

I would like to see the original for comparison. While I like the first image, I don't care much for the second. Why not just go all the way to black & white?

Although many images are good in black and white, I always want to see flower images showing color. The first one is very striking, thank you.

I prefer the second to the first possibly due to the brightness on my iPad.
On the off chance you haven’t seen these, there are several forum sections that explore this area.
If interested just scroll to bottom of page and select “all sections”.
My apologies if this is redundant.
Have fun!

I like the second one. It shows a lot more detail. Plus, it is different, in a nice way.

I like them both. They each have a unique quality to them

Both are interesting compositions but, if I had to pick one to frame it would be the first.

Aren't these also called Torch flowers?

I rather like the first one, but I don't think they're Indian Paintbrush.

The flowers are Red Hot Pokers (botanical name for this plant is kniphofia uvaria). There are over 70 known species of it. A little too much contrast in the first image. The second is interesting, looks a little like infrared.
