Yeah, you're trying to be funny here, but you deserve jail time.

If you were going 146MPH, he should have put you in Jail, and impounded your car. That is INSANE going that fast on a public road.

Fortunately, or unfortunately depending on your point of view, sports cars only come in police attracting colors, red, yellow, black and orange. It's like it is a condition of manufacture. Or do the buyers self select? There is probably a psychological study somewhere out there about that.

I once did a stoplight drag start in my (then) BRG XKE against a red ‘Vette. A police car chased down the ‘Vette as I sweetly drove by. Lesson learned.

I think I'm a good driver. So I don't get ticketed for using my cell phone, or speeding. I once got a ticket for sitting alone in my car. One morning my wife and I had an argument. I stormed out of the house. Walked over to my tan minivan and sat down. I turned on the radio and tried to cool off. Minutes later, there was an unmarked police car with its windshield lights flashing. A police officer walked over to the car and told me he was issuing me a ticket for driving without my seatbelt. I insisted I wasn't driving. I told him to feel the hood of my car. He refused. He asked me for my license. I told him my wallet was in the house. I asked him if I could get it and did so. I gave him my license and he wrote me a ticket to appear in court. When in court the officer was dressed like a street urchin. The judge asked him to tell his story. He did so. I'm shaking my head the entire time. The judge asked the officer where he first noticed me without my seatbelt. He could not respond. The judge asked me if I always drive with my seatbelt on. I told him yes always. The judge dismissed my case. The point is since the officer was unprepared for court I didn't have to pay the fine. My car was tan and I don't speed.

Not trying to be funny. Someone asked how fast and what car; I simply answered.

A great way to die too. As a deputy coroner I have investigated numerous cases of death from vehicles being driven too fast. Many of the deceased were children who most likely would have chosen to live if given the choice.

This is what they do in Florida:
For a first violation, a mandatory fine of $1000 and the judge’s discretion may be applied to convict an offender with 4 points on their record, to order driving school, and to suspend the offender’s license.

For a second violation, the convicted individual is responsible for a mandatory fine of up to $2500, a one year license revocation, a potential conviction with 4 points on the license and any other lawful penalty outside of jail time including ordering driving school.

For a third or subsequent violation, this is classified as a third-degree felony in Florida with a mandatory fine of $5000 and losing your driver’s license for 10 years and up to 5 years in prison.

A conviction will also affect your ability to be approved for housing, to own a gun, to vote, or to obtain employment. The specific language of the Florida statute does not require expressly that two prior convictions be on your record in order to have your current charge elevated to a felony criminal offense.

I sold my sportbike when this was enacted................

No, the police car has wig-wag light and the photo caught the one light in it's off cycle.

Rubbish. Whether doing 146mph on a public road is unsafe of not depends on the "conditions".

Conditions that you have absolutely no idea of.

The OP committed a traffic infringement, of the nature that the police officer
deemed the infringement unworthy of penalty.

The only person that needs to be locked up is you! for suggesting that the OP be locked up
for a traffic infringement... you braying ass.

214 feet per second. On a public highway. And not a ticket? You were a danger to public safety. Not cool at all...

Sometimes we do things that defy logic, good sense and the rule of law; we are then left to suffer the consequences and to ask “why”. Thanks for your comment. I am sure you have seen enough carnage.

It happens, more often with cars that can go fast because that's the way you drive them! To hear the engine roar.

I remember my Dad getting pulled over by a police man and he was on a racing edition of the BMW 1200cc monster 130 hp bike that looked fast even as it was parked! My Dad took off his helmet and the police man was shocked Dad was so ... OLD and was going pretty fast. Dad told him he dropped it in sixth gear and opened her up a bit, though really not that much, he said. The police guy laughed and gave him a warning. It was all the polite talk that get you everywhere with our local police. I guess it's that respect, that was easy for Dad as he was a Navy guy who always gave great respect to everyone. He was told to please go slower with that "bad ask" bike.

Dad's motorcycle was yellow with a racing finish flag on the front fairing by the engine. I rode it once and gently took it through all six gears and looked down, it was going over 100 mph -- I slowed down and turned back to go return the bike and decided to just run it a little harder through only the first three gears and looked down -- again over 100 mph. I slowed DOWN and returned the bike to Dad and said it's not for me, I cannot afford all the tickets I'd get!
