I know most of the men here and probably some women have back problems...I do.

Standing behind a tripod or sitting without proper support is uncomfortable even after only a short time. So I got this idea and tried it...its like I've died and gone to heaven.

Its tricky getting in and out but its manageable and I feel so good sitting in it.
I know most of the men here and probably some wome... (show quote)

Back problems are so common that they account for almost 50% of emergency room visits (been there, done that) and about 30% of hospital admissions. I know all too well of what I speak. I think it's because we are meant to walk on all fours.

You sure you haven't thrown your back further out just getting seated?

I am not a large person and aside from my back quite fit so getting in or standing up is no problem. I spend an hour each day doing a fitness workout and 30 minutes riding a bicycle weather permitting.

I did eventually remove the center post but not for the obvious reason...sans post provides more flexibility in positioning the camera.

Idea: The Thrift stores, Goodwill etc usually have office chairs, inexpensive. Try that & fabricate a cantilevered monopod using Electrical conduit or even better "Unistrut". With that you are on wheels &have easy assess & egress with sturdy support for the equipment-------Henry
