Should say Oak Creek Country Club in Oak Creek...Not “Oak Tree”...sorry about that.

Check out Boynton Canyon in Sedona. There is a nice rock formation called Kachina Woman. If you are not up for hiking the trail there, you can get nice shots from the Enchantment Resort (yes, it’s a real place). I would call ahead to be sure you can park there if you are not a guest. I don’t remember if there was any other nearby parking.
Another place to check out is Montezuma Castle (Native American cliff dwellings) nearby Sedona.
If you also play golf, check out the Robert Trent Jones designed Oak Tree Country Club in nearby village of Oak Tree. There are great red rock views from the golf course. Just don’t slow down play if you are taking pictures.
At the Grand Canyon check out Lookout Lodge for some incredible views...then again, anywhere in Grand Canyon has an incredible view.
Have fun!!!

Ditto the pink jeep tour. Great tip.
As someone living in Arizona, if possible I recommend going to the North Rim of the Grand Canyon instead of the South Rim.
You’ve received a lot of good and bad advice. I been there often and believe it’s actually better than the Grand Canyon. Try the west fork about 15 or 20 minutes north of town. It’s an easy hike with beautiful vistas at every turn. Cathedral rock has been so over done for decades. For fun the Pink Jeeps are hard to beat. The rides a bit jouncy, so leave the good camera behind.
Just got back from bus tour (Sedona, GC, Monument Valleym, Page, BRyce and Zion. I am 75 an knee flaired up, long plane ride, 1200 miles on bus. Only used D7500 & 18-200 nikon. Have D810, 24-105 and 14 mm Rokinor, filters, etc. I never took out of back pack and back pack was to heavy to carry. ALTITUDE makes a differance. Just take sonething in 24-200 range and enjoy more. Zion was the best! Didnt get the WOW pictures I had planned but enjoyed.

2 days at the Grand Canyon is barely enough time to wet your whistle.
I second that. The mule rides are wonderful.
Just got back last week from Sedona, GC, and Page. Used my D750 and 24-70 90% of the time. Brought the 70-200 and 17-35. They stayed in the backpack or back at the hotel most of the time. Stay hydrated!!
Remember you are not at sea level.
Obviously 3 days is not enough time to cover the area. You could only begin in 3 weeks. You might do it justice in 3 years, but still miss a lot. jethro779's recommendation for camera seems reasonable as you are familiar with the Nikon and should travel light. I always take my monopod as it also serves as a walking stick.

While you're in Sedona, stop by Tlaquepaque Arts & Crafts Village. A very photogenic place.
Where you should stay is Orchard Canyon (formerly Garlands) on Oak Creek. You might not ever leave.
The only MacDonalds in the world without Golden Arches is in Sedona. The city would only let them in if they gave up the Golden Arches. The MacDonald arches are Turquoise in Sedona, and nowhere else in the world other than Sedona.
Otherwise, there is nothing of consequence in Sedona and that whole area including the Grand Canyon. I was traveling up behind the Airport on a wooded road and a Wolf came out of the forest.
We stared at each other for about five minutes. Otherwise I have only been to Sedona, Jerome, Prescott, Oak Creek Canyon, and a few other surrounding areas about ten-twelve times.
Never visited nor wanted images of the GC. The heights make me nervous.
I did enjoy the hikes and energy vortexes, around the spiritual areas of the terrain Sedona and similar.
No way to do justice to the Grand Canyon with all the revolving racks of slides you can buy without buying gas in the area.
