During the clean out of my mother’s house we found these two cameras.
The old Kodak Brownie Target SIX-20 I think may have been my grandfather’s.
Does it have any value to a collector of Kodak cameras ? Or should it be just thrown out ?
Also a YASHICA ELECTRO AX one of the early electronic shutter 35mm film cameras, I think, was was my dads. Does it have any value to a photographer that likes to occasionally still photograph using film .

Looking for guidance
Thank you
Respectfully

Unfortunately, you do not have cameras that are worth much. You can see it here: https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_trksid=p2380057.m570.l1313.TR1.TRC0.A0.H0.TRS0&_nkw=Kodak+Brownie+Target+SIX-20&_sacat=0
The Yashica was popular back on the day of film, but unless the camera belongs to someone famous and you can prove it. You probably don't get more than $20.00 for it and only if the camera is in good working condition. Sorry!

It's irony that the Electro AX which is an SLR and was more expensive than the Electro 35 a fixed lens rangefinder but today due to the cult following the Electro 35 would fetch more money than the AX.

Do not throw the Brownie out.
These have an interest value in small museums or collectors. No not valuable dollar wise but I, for one, love these cameras. Put on Craig's List as free if you want, someone will definitely want it.

It will have value to a collector, but not in the sense of a lot of money. I bought a Kodak like that in a junk shop for $10, for nostalgia sake and I like it. Don't throw it away, put it in a thrift shop for someone else to find. Like an easter egg.

Oh, I think as a photographer, those cameras represent a precious part of history that I would want to preserve on my shelf. I think they are great!!

I bought an old box camera for $1.00. Took it home, dismantled & cleaned it. Put some B&W film in it and started shooting. One of the pictures was of my son - the only reason he consented to letting me take his picture was because he didn't expect it to turn out. Developed & printed in my home darkroom. Sadly, that was the last picture ever of my son. He was hit by a careless driver running a stop sign a few weeks later. I used that picture for his memorial service.

So, even though the camera may be old, it can still have value.

I love using the old cameras as decoration in my office. None of mine work but I LOVE them!

Thank you for your reply..
I can certainly understand. I also have a Mamiya/Sekor 1000 DTL that I took a lot of slides with when I was in the Navy many years ago. But with the advent of digital cameras I have not used it for years . Personally I could never go back to a film camera.

One of our neighbors does photo shoots for aspiring models...does it free. He found a box of about 15 old cameras in a junk shop and paid $10 for the lot (none work and some are rusty!!) He uses them as background props...maybe you can find such a person or donate to a local camera club.
