with that head, I'm inclined to agree, but would like to see more and at different angles.

I've had my nose in a Snake Identification book all morning! This little snake was on my driveway today, first I thought it was a pigmy rattler but it seems its a Florida Corn snake and harmless. If the snake's eye (pupil) has a vertical slit then its usually venomous.

That is definately a venomous snake mate. He may have lost his rattle but he aint no kissing cousin.

Thanks for the clarification. Initially, I thought it was a rattler-- so no I didn't take chances-- well maybe a little chance :)

The head did look like a viper's head-- but I guess I screwed up when I looked him up online.

Looks like the Pigmy Rattlers we have in S.Fl. I have had 3 in my screened patio over a 3 yr. period. They are nasty when cornered !

Corn snake is also called a 'rat' snake, and is orange and white.
