trying not to fall into that new gear trap but I think now it's time to upgrade my Nikon DF with the Nikon d850 don't think this will be a lateral move, going for articulating screen, ease of controls many more MP to get more detail and better ergonomics , already have a d500 and love it . So are there any other Nikon d850 owners out there that care to commit so I can be sure I'm making the right move. Will appreciate any views

If you think so then you are certainly made a mistake when you bought the Df.

I've never thought of buying another DSLR since I bought my Df.
It does everything I need.

That was the way I thought, but at this point it's still just a thought . Might be falling into that new gear trap 😱

The new gear trap is an expensive trap. If you do decide to go with the D850 hold on to your Df just in case.
Good luck.

Regardless of when you bought the Df. If you think the controls on the D850 is better then you made a mistake buying the Df.

Seems that the most likely scenario would go like this; the Df came out and the OP checked it out, liked it and bought it. Then several years later the D850 came out, the OP checked it out and liked it also.
I fail to see where a mistake was made as the OP didn't have the 850 to compare the DF to.

The controls on the Df is different from all other Nikon DSLR's. If you like it you like it. If you don't you shouldn't buy it back then. There was the D800 which was very similar to the D850.

Geez, he liked it at first or he wouldn't have bought it. No mistake was made.

In direct response to the OP's post, do you own a D850 and can you speak to that?

I think we have some envious people on here making some stupid comments about you making a mistake when you bought the DF. Bottom line is if you can afford the 850 you will have one of the best camera's available. Learn it and love it!

I have a Df that I will use forever—doesn’t mean I won’t pick up an 850 too.
