Very compelling. Having produced videos for over 20 years I well know the time, effort and dedication involved in producing your video.

Thank you so very much for sharing.

Thank you, Gene.

It took me several days to research/prepare for the slideshow. I wanted to tell a story of our soldiers' ultimate sacrifice (75 years ago) fighting for our freedom, then fast-forward to the present-day Normandy as depicted in our photos from our visit 4 years ago, to show gratitude and respect for their bravery.

Thank you for your insight on the video. I value it so much especially coming from a seasoned producer as you.

Honestly, it was a one-man job, modesty aside. I did all the research, collecting the documentary photos, the BBC broadcast of the Invasion, post processing our own photos (believe it or not, from Lumix zs50 point and shoot camera), looking for the right musical/song accompaniment, creating/rearranging/editing/captioning the slideshows. I wanted to make it a very special one in honor of the Heroes of Normandy.

America is the home of the free because of the brave.

Thank you, PhotoNat.

We don't know all of them, but we owe all of them.

Indeed, they are the True Heroes.

Beautifully done Sunnely. A great remembrance of D-Day. Mahalo for sharing.

Thank you, JoAnneK01.

On June 6, D-Day (75th year), let us all pause for a moment of silence/respect/prayer to all the Fallen Heroes of Normandy, time of your choosing. That's the least we can do for their ultimate sacrifice. What we have today (Freedom), we owe to them.

Thank you, Haymaker.

Most of the young soldiers of the Normandy Invasion are now gone. Gone but never forgotten.

A few years ago while vacationing in Southern France we were lucky to discover the Rhône American Cemetery in the city of Draguignan. It was the day after Memorial Day. The citizens of the city gave the ground of the cemetery as a gift to the United States in gratitude for their liberation. What an honor to visit this sacred place. There are 800 men and 1 woman ( Lucy ) a flight nurse buried at this site. Their plane got lost in the fog and ran into a hillside killing all aboard. Ironically, the plane was transporting wounded German prisoners of war. The superintendent of the cemetery is a British gal that will give anyone a history lesson bar none. We had the honor to visit with an 93 year old Scottish gentleman who goes to the cemetery every day to visit his war comrades. This experience will stay with me as long as I live. So much to be grateful for. Let’s not forget all the sacrifices made so that we can live in prosperity. Thank you to all who served. By the way I am German and have lived in the States for 53 years.

Well done but the event is sad. I wonder if this is ever shown in high schools today? Probably not as there is some group that will protest. My cousin died in the pacific theater. My Uncle made it home.

Thank you, Dalek. Indeed, a sad event in man's quest for freedom. I got all choked up while preparing the slideshow and while playing it with the kinda haunting musical accompaniment. Incidentally, the music was composed by John Barry with lyrics by Don Black sung by the Ten Tenors. If the music sounds familiar, it was also from Main Theme, Dances with Wolves.

They should be showing shows like the Normandy Invasion in high schools today. Protest from some group? One thing is for sure. Had the Normandy Invasion been a failure, protest groups of any kind would be banned today in the whole of Europe and probably in US, as well. That is exactly what the Victory in Normandy is all about - freedom, including to protest.

Thank you so very much for this video. I was born in 1946 and well remember my parents, aunts and uncles talking about high school classmates that had been killed at Normandy, Iwo Jima, Guadalcanal, Okinawa and so on. Their loss, America's loss, became the loss for my brothers and I. It was never something that was dwelled upon but was in the background of our lives. Of course war movies brought it home as well. We were brought up to have a remembrance of these warriors who fought and died for our freedom. As the years passed my brothers and I also joined the military. Giving back to a country that had given us so much was expected. An older brother joined the Army and became an instructor. My twin brother and I joined the Marine Corps and served as door gunners in Vietnam. Honestly, we could not wait to get to Vietnam. We had to see what combat was all about. We found out in short order, exactly what it was all about. But it also let us join the ranks of those who have put their lives on the line for America, to know somewhat the feelings of those who had gone on before us.

Your video brought back some of my experiences as well as those of my parents friends, in a small way. I know nothing can ever compare with those on that lonely beach head on D Day. These men who died for us in battle are truly heroes in every way. To use an oft repeated line, they gave up their tomorrows so we could have today. I thank them.

Dennis
Thank you so very much for this video. I was born... (show quote)

Thank you, Dennis. I salute you and your brothers and thank you for your service to our country.

The fallen soldiers of Normandy and that of the other wars are Heroes in every way. There's no better way to show one's love for his/her country and freedom than to give the ultimate sacrifice. Let's not forget them.

I remember the day well. As a young boy I returned from school and with my mother we listened to the news on the radio as we did each evening. There was only my mother and I as my father was serving in the RAF.
After hearing about the D-day landings my mother turned to me and said “This is a day you must never forget.” And I never have.

Thank you, Modnar for sharing your experience during the D-Day.

The British stormed the Gold Beach (Normandy) and had an easier time wiping out the Germans while the Americans suffered major losses attacking the Germans in Utah and Omaha beaches. The British aerial bombardment (with the RAF where your father probably was) wiped out much of their defenses.

Your mom was right. We must never forget D-Day and all the allied forces especially those who lost their lives so we can remain free.

Thanks for the video.
You have given me the incentive to finish my own, taken on a riverboat trip through France.
The memorial service at the cemetery with taps and the old Normandy vets, brought a lump in my throat and a tear to my eye.
I might even steal your music for the memorial portion of my video. I have already found it online.
It is perfect.
