I lived in Flag 40 years, have been by there I do not know how many times. Did inventories at the old Peach Springs saw mill. The comment about the pumps tell me that fella never drove that road once.

Thank you, Rick. I appreciate the comment from you as well as others. I'd also agree about the guy and his comment about the pumps. No biggie though.

The pumps are too new to be from a Rt 66 bypass. It may even still in business as a gas station for the locals, only open at certain times and days.

Route 66 was said to be officially open in 1926 and officially closed in 1985. Perhaps these pumps likely fit within those years.

Cheers!

Very nice shot I like the BW. We travelled Route 66 (where we could) last year From St Louis to Kingman AZ.
These type of abandoned businesses are all along the route. There were also many that have survived the bypass though, mostly near HWY 40 exits.

Ok... I can't speak for the age of the pumps, but I can definitely speak for its location and the fact that this facility is quite out of business. If you haven't, take a trip on old Rt. 66 between Kingman and Ashfork and perhaps you'll get a first hand view.

It is pretty much the same along US 66 & I-40 across the Mojave Desert in CA. But those old AZ buildings seem like they were nicer in their day.
