I want a pocketable flash for my new Z7. SB-300 comes highly recommended but is no longer made. (I checked the UHH site, but didn’t find any.)
Appreciate any advice on reliable sources for a used SB-300.

I Googled “sb-300 speedlight” and Nikon still has some for sale for $149. Unless you have an issue with the price, that is definitely one way to go!

Thanks...you are correct......my senior moment.......I have seen comments that the SB-400, which is not being made, is a better choice than the SB-300.

Do folks agree with that?

If so, can you recommend a reliable source for a SB-400?

sorry for the senior moment......appreciate any help/advice

thanks

MY mistake...the flash was listed as REFURBISHED, not used! I also read the fine print, and it said they were sold out but expect another one soon. Guess that was my senior moment...

Don't even consider the SB-300. It's a weak flash with a long recycle time. It uses AAA batteries which is probably why it has a 5 second recycle time. The SB-400 is a better flash. I have one that I used for a few years. It uses AA batteries and has one-half the recycle time of the SB-300. I needed a flash with more capabilities so I got an SB-700 and now an SB-5000.

You might quickly become disappointed with either the SB-300 or SB-400. Their heads won't swivel from side to side. That means you can't bounce flash off the ceiling when you have the camera in portrait orientation. Try to go with at least an SB-500. Its head can swivel vertically and from side to side for bounce flash in any orientation.

Yes they have always sold me quality items in remarkable (used) condition at great prices. Never had an issue of any kind. Good Luck

Take a look at the Godox 350 for Nikon. Small, powerful enough for many situations, well built and inexpensive. I replaced my Nikon SB800s with a couple of them plus one larger Godox. Very easy menu system, too.

crbuckjr... This is not a SB300 or SB400, but you might want to consider a Godox V350N, which is a fairly compact flash. Not sure if there are any used ones floating around, as its fairly new yet. You can get a new one on B&H for $84.90
