Parts are floating around in the Sony HVL F43AM flash head. How can I
> disassemble the head and get at them?
> I can't find a service manual on-line for any Sony HVL series flash;
> the unit is not worth sending to the exclusive Sony repair shop for
> repair. I know, after sending my Sony A77 to this outfit and getting the bill.

The reliability of my Sony photo equipment has not been very good.
> Any help?.
Thanks.
Bob

Probably snap-locks between the two plastic halves. (Like a cell phone.)
If it is functioning normally, I wouldn't worry about it because it's easy to bugger the case if you don't know where the snap-locks are located.

Is your will up to date?
If you die from being zapped by a shock from the capacitor, you win!

Seriously, don’t mess with it unless you know what you’re doing.
(And if you are asking, you don’t)

Thanks for the reminder. Yes, my will and trust are current (no pun).
The flash hasn't been used for over a year. And if I get the top off I'll check for a charge, if any.

But, how do I get the top off?

Not familiar with that model.
As expensive as the unit is, and my experience with Sony electronics, I’m surprised you weren’t happy with it.

There are other brands. Metz makes some units that are as good or better than the Nikon OEM that I’ve used. (They also make some cheaper stuff). I’ve been trying Godox equipment for the last couple of years and find them a great value. They have some really innovative lights: all with radio control.
If you’re into flash, specifically off-camera, they offer the most extensive line on the market and modifiers. Adorama sells them under the Flashpoint brand. Good luck!
