I have hit a wrong button I do believe. I seem to be in vector masking instead of layyer masking. I like to know how to get back to layer masking. Also in front of most layer names there is a brush. Photo included.
In Photoshop CC, to the right at the top, you will see a tiny down arrow. Click on it. A drop-down menu appears.
Select "photography." That should return you to masking.
You could also press the Ctrl key and then the "z" character on the keyboard. This action can return things to the immediate condition before the current one.
Finally, on the top Menu Bar, you will see the word "Window." Click on it. A dropdown menu appears.
Click on "History." A panel will appear. It will show a dozen or so previous changes in your workflow.
Click on an earlier stage in your workflow. This action may take things back to a prior stage where you may do masking.
I hope this helps.
Others here more experienced may offer better advice.
Good luck.
