I don't think it will, the D5xxx series require a lens with a built-in motor. Take a look at lens compatibility at nikonusa.com or check out this link:

No autofocus. If you don't mind focusing manually, you can use it.

The lens you cite focuses mechanically and requires that the camera body has a focus motor which has a mechanical coupler to the lens. Nikon D3xxx, D5xxx and D7500 bodies do NOT have a focus motor and therefore require AF-S or AF-P lenses to achieve focus. You will be able to focus manually, you may get the green focus dot confirmation.

I read that the d7500 does have an autofocus motor, minus the AI coupling ring.

It will work, but only as a manual focus lens. AF will not work.

It will work. It just won't autofocus.

It will work but only in manual focus since it doesn't have a built in focus motor so the camera body has to have a focus motor.

With this lens you would need to focus manually- every else will work seamlessly

My D7000 has a built in focus motor. Why would that take that out on the D7500?

The D7500 does have an in body AF motor - so it will work fine with AF-S lenses as well as the older AF lenses.
