Currently I have a D40 with the 18-55 kit, the 55-200 vr and the 50 1.8 lenses. I've had it a few years now but it doesn't auto focus the lenses. I am going to purchase the D7000 very soon(hoping for another little price drop). The 18-105 lens that gets combined with the camera - is it worth it or should I get just the body only? I don't mind selling off the 18-55 & 55-200 to help pay for it. But only if it is a good lens. Or should I sell those 2 lenses and purchase a different lens altogether? Decisions, decisions...What do you say? I shoot a lot of landscape and some portraits. No sports or action to date.
I bought a second hand D7000 a few months ago and was amazed at the features and image quality compared to my D80. I also use the 50mm 1.8 for portraiture but have the 16-85 VR for landscape work. I find the latter a good, sharp and relatively light lens for my uses.
Buy the D7000 body only and;
Sell all your lenses add some money and get the new 18-300mm VR lens. :mrgreen:
Maybe keep the 50mm f/1.8 as it's a great lens also!
thanks for the advice. I got my d7000 today. WoW! What a giant leap from my d40! FAST FAST FAST Still playing around with it. I am going to sell of the d40 with new 18-105 lens. A number of people told me the 18-55 is sharper. Going out tonight to shoot a friends band. Should be fun!
Great. So glad you like your toy. I really enjoy mine.
