Has anyone had any problems using any aftermarket batteries with the Sony a7iii. I have had no problems using aftermarket batteries with my Sony a6000, a7s, or a99ii. I understand some manufactures have locked out aftermarket batteries and flash units. Oh, the joys of lockout software.

I get a message the "The performance of this battery cannot be guaranteed" (paraphrasing) with 3rd party batteries on my A7R3 which I ignore. It's been almost a year since using non-Sony batteries and so far no malfunctions or issues.

Thanks, I also understand that the battery power indicator is absent too.

I have that camera and cannot tell the difference between the Sony batteries and the off brand batteries. Both have a very long life but I do not do much video.

The Ravpower NP-FZ100 bateries are Sony-compliant. I tested them in A7III, A7RIII and A9 and they work fine. Only use Sony OEM , or Sony-compliant batteries in your A7III. Other brands may damage the camera circuitry and affect camera performance..

I had a Sony P&S that would not function with anything non-Sony. Batteries, memory, etc.

Yes these are the ones you want if looking to save some money, but not looking to harm your camera or hurt its performance. Cheers

I have two Pro Master batteries for my Sony a7iii and ever since I upgraded the firmware, I now get this message, “this battery may not be compatible...”. May is the operative word because the batteries work just fine. Sony is just gently reminding you that you do not have an “approved” Sony battery installed

With non-Sony-compliant batteries they may "work" but there is host of circuitry inside these batteries (they aren't just dumb batteries) and any diversion from the specific Sony mandated voltage and amperage could cause issues over time with your camera's circuits and operations. I wouldn't risk it. Sony may also void your warranty coverage if you have a problem and have used non-compliant batteries. The Ravpower ones are Sony-Compliant and offer a good price and safe alternative to the OEM Sony batteries. Cheers

I had already decided to buy a Sony battery; but perhaps the Ravpower would be a better choice. I'll look into it. BTW, my battery charger is also a Pro Master. I wonder if that would cause problems. Thank you!

EDIT: A Sony battery is $80 and TWO Ravpower batteries AND charger is $60. The article does say that the off brand don't last as long on one charge. I have noticed that too with my off-brand batteries. No sense in taking any chances with this expensive camera. I have a B&H $40 rewards card and applied that to my new battery, so it'll only cost me $40
