I have a 24-70/2.8 which I really use quite a bit. I also own a SIGMA 24-105/4 ART which I also like. The extra reach is useful sometimes. Best of luck.

Honestly, the BEST upgrade lens you could get is the EF-S 17-55mm f/2.8 IS USM.... First, it's still wide on your 80D. Second, it's f/2.8 AND it's got IS (with the above it's one or the other... not both). Plus it's got as good or better image quality than any of the above. At 55mm, it's not as "long" as the above and far shorter than your 18-135mm, but you say you have 70-200mm for that (and the "gap" between 55mm and 70mm is actually insignificant). And it's somewhat smaller and a little lighter than some of the above. Plus the 17-55mm is the same price or less than the current 24-70s or 24-105. It doesn't come with lens hood, the way the L-series lenses do... so don't forget to buy that too,
The Canon EF 24-70mm f/2.8L "II" would g... (show quote)

I'd second amfoto1 re the EF-S 17-55mm f/2.8 IS USM.... Though the EF-S 17-55mm f/2.8 IS USM is one of Canon's older designs, it is a seriously good stabilized wide-to-standard all-around zoom lens for canon APS-C cameras. I have a 24-70 f/4L IS USM that I use with the 6D Mark II, but for daily use as a lightweight grab-and-go rig the 80D paired the EF-S 17-55mm gets more use.

Right now the EF-S 17-55mm f/2.8 IS USM is on sale: Canon's website has it in the refurbished section at $438.99 (that's more than $300 less than I paid for mine about 4 years ago).

I currently have Canon 80D with:
50mm 1.8 / 70-200mm f4 / 18-135mm IS USM.
My 50 & 70-200 are very sharp and I am thinking of replacing the 18-135 with either canon's 24-70 or 24-100.
I like shooting street photography, festivals, landscapes etc.
I appreciate your feedback.

You are getting some good advice. One thing to consider is that with your crop frame, 18mm is giving you a wider angle of view than you’ll get at 24mm. Both L lenses you are considering are great, but you would be giving up some coverage.

I don't think you'll see much difference with either of the two lenses you've mentioned. The 18-135 has a more broad focal length so it's more versatile that the other two. The only thing the other two might do better than the one you already have is to capture less blurry images in dark settings like indoor photos in night clubs, or restaurants etc., especially the 24-70 f/2.8. (because of the larger apertures)

Also, under certain conditions you might experience less CA with the better lenses. But if you don't know what CA is, or if you go back and look at images that you've already taken and see that the CA is minimal for the kind of pictures you have already taken, then upgrading to a new lens might not give you results you can see.

I use the 5d with 24-105 almost exclusively for my street shooting. Versatility and excellent results. So, the parallel efs lens would be my suggestion.

I looked at both.
I got the 24-105 as it won hands down for versatility. I don't shoot high action sports in the dark.
The 105 gives a lot more reach and the IS is a dream come true. That was the biggest factor and I really don't like non-IS lenses. I can hand hold in lower light than even the faster lens will allow.
Your list of shooting is right up the alley of the 24-105 as it just does it all well.
The II version is very sharp and unless you live in the pixel peeping world rather than the real world you will not see a difference between them.

Check out the Sigma 24 to 105 f4. It's gotten really good reviews.

You have had a couple of suggestions about the EF-S 17-55 f/2.8. I had that on my 60D and was very pleased with is performance. It is one of the best crop-sensor lens that you can buy. I finally sold mine when I went to a full frame. Good luck on whatever you decide

hi Jim, i'm a Nikon shooter but heres what I would do. if your getting rid of the 18-135, go for the 24-70 first. then sav up and get what canon may have in the form of a 100-400 ?? / 200-400 ?? then you got a big zoom range. reading the others it sounds like that 24-70 is a good one. :-) Rich

Love the 24-70 for street photography on my 5DIII, it's on my camera most of the time. On my 7DII which I use for action, sports I prefer other lenses. For outdoors I like the Canon 70-200 f4 lens on the crop sensor camera, great crisp results. Good luck on your decision...
