A stunning photo. Beautiful shot. Thanks for posting. Lots of hummingbirds visit our backyard, but I have not gotten a good shot. I appreciate yours.

You need to get ready for them soon. The males don't hang around long. It's always a challenge for to capture a male.
Good shot. What settings did you use? Thanks

That's a really cool shot - so crisp. May I ask what your shutter speed was? You've even stilled the wings!
Holy cow!! What a great picture. Looks 3 dimensional. And give me a good reason why you haven’t been taking hummingbird photos with that kind of ability.
WOW It is for sure a wall hanger !!! Thank you for sharing. Shang
Dave, the hummingbird is spot-on. I wonder about those background fuscias though. They seem awfully large compared to the hummer. Can you explain.

To answer you question, the shutter speed was 1/250, but that's not how I stopped the wings. I was done with multiple synchronized flashes. I have spent years developing the technique how to do it. This is my latest effort effort. My technique is continually evolving, changing and getting better.
I have given classes in my home home on how I do this where people can take their own humming bird photo using my equipment.
It ain't easy to take a photo like this. It takes cat like reflexes, a lot of patience and time, and deep pockets.

The hummers are remarkably tiny birds. They stick their beaks into the flowers and drink from them.
Yes, Dave
this is much better. I was going to ask you to improve the first one.
Thank you.
