Feel free to spend your money on another crippled Canon camera, they are counting on it. Cheers

You must be a very unhappy Sony (or other brand besides Canon) shooter to concern yourself with what anyone else on the forum uses. However, I'm a firm believer in the 1st Amendment and don't ever want to regulate sniveling and whining, so, please feel free to continue. Cheers back to ya lil feller~
I would file this under who cares?

Only people who bought a camera without the center connector on the accessory shoe,
when they try to use a third party flash.

Simple solution. Use a flash that works...duh

That would be the optimum solution.
But not knowing that third party flashes require that center connector, could be a hitch in their git along.
I'm sure Canon's thinking had a whole lot to do with the fact that this is an entry level camera. Which by definition means a new user who could get confused by the selection of flashes, make a bad choice and then blame Canon for poor results. The way this entry level camera is now set up, the flash choices are limited. It's probably a wise preemptive design choice.

Point taken. However I'm pretty sure the cheap 3rd party manufactures have taken note and are, as we speak modifying their flashes to conform. Granted, it certainly won't help those with flashes that won't work on the new body, so it may be time for them to upgrade their flash as well.
What really got me was this Sony clown in the video chastising Canon, (which he doesn't shoot) for something they did. No skin off that buffoon's nose, because it did not effect him in the slightest, with the possible exception of a reason to whine~

Unless he's really interested/concerned across the board?
Yup, the third party guys are probably re-grouping, depending on what market share they think it might be worth.
