My first time trying to photograph the moon. Moon is way to bright, what did I do wrong??
Moon reflection is direct sunlight. You have to either have a great auto detect or put in manual shutter and f/stop
think 1/500th area and f5.6 + or -

My first camera was a used Kodak Brownie. Kodak film came with instructions. Black and white ASA 100. Film sheet says bright sunlight, 125 shutter, 1/16 F stop. Shade 125, shutter f/11 etc. I wish I had saved just one sheet of instructions.
Film negatives have a range of light to dark much superior to digital. HDR built in.
A full moon is in bright sunlight. "M" setting suggested. Handheld I used ISO 100, 1/500, f8, which requires minimal PP.

Coastlawyer- Beautiful shot of the moon!! Thanks for posting.
Thanks Sarge69, I didn't have my fstop that low. I'm gonna keep trying.
Try a faster shutter speed. The moon is reflecting bright sunlight. I have shots that turned out great at 1/500 to 1/1000.
I like the clouds which show in your photo. They would not show up as well if you had exposed for more moon detail.
One way to do a Blue Moon is to set your white balance on Tungsten.
What size prime lens do you recommend?
Now that's a blue moon! Nice!
CoastLawyer:
Is this what you wanted? It is for Kodacolor, ASA 80 so you will have to adjust accordingly.
