Help Canon 80 d question

I have a problem with my Canon 80 that I hope someone can help me. When I review photos in the camera view finder I have the red focus dots appear on the photo. It's only in the view finder not the actual photo. How do I make this go away?
It just started after fellow photographer"adjusted "my camera for a bird shoot and its driving me crazy.
Help please
Thanks
Crad

I also have an 80D. Never ran into this issue, but searched the 'net and found this:

"Is it a single dot or a small square?

If it's a small square then it's showing which focus points were used for auto focus.

To turn it off go into the Playback menu and set the 'AF point disp' option to Disable (Pg 39 & 117 of the manual).

If it's a single dot then you may have a stuck pixel on the LCD. Does it show when you change the menu settings?"

Hope it helps. Best wishes, Michael

Open the menus on the back screen.
Go to the "display" menu - it is the second one from the left a little rectangle with a right pointing arrow
Go to the #3 submenu
Go down to "AF point disp." and press set, it will give you a choice of disable or enable

Not sure why you would want to turn it off. It a composition tool that indicates what you're focusing on.

I am surprised. I have an 80D and never encountered the ability to view a photo in the viewfinder. How is this done, and why?

I often focus on my subject then re-compose (pan but not adjust lens). The "focus indicator" shows which sensor was used but in the wrong place on the scene. I find that confusing, so I turn it off.

Huh?

You mean you didn't figure out the OP meant the rear screen?

Guess not. I was a scientist, words mattered.

I was a classroom teacher and words matter there also.

Frankly, when the OP said review in the viewfinder, I assumed he meant view not review. I'm not a teacher, but I'm also usually able to figure out what people mean. And while the words used, are of course, important, I try to interpret meaning from the context. Since he said viewfinder, from that context it could go have gone either way.
