I am trying to decide whether to upgrade from Elements 2018 to Elements 2019. Is it worth the hassle of installing the new program, importing the catalogue and customizing it? I am not interested in CC or LR or any other competing programs.

What does 2019 do that 2018 doesn't that you MIGHT need?
I've skipped updates in other programs because the new changes were of no consequence to me.

In essence, that is what I am trying to find out. I think there are improvements in the Adobe Camera Raw part of the program, and in the guided edits, but are they significant?

Does anything state what the improvements are about?
Does 2018 not do well with the RAW?
If something just states improvements (no explanation), and I have no problem with the current software process, I'll skip the update.
But, there will be people who will argue to have the latest and greatest, just because it's the latest and greatest.

Here's a checklist of differences. To me, the "new" features don't add anything for a 2018 owner to need to purchase.

I went from Elements 14 to 2019. A few benefits I liked and thought would come in handy.

I keep thinking that but by the time I make my mind up Elements 2020 will be on the shelf and I'll still be using 2010!

Have you tried going to the Adobe website to see what they say is different? They usually tell you the improvements from version to version. Also, no need to worry about hassle of installing the new program. It will automatically convert the old catalogue to the new catalogue in the new version.

Unless you’re upgrading to accommodate compatibility with RAW files in s new model camera, I’ve found that most of the Elements updates automate things you can already do with a little more effort in the previous version.

This is a very helpful link. Since Adobe releases a new version of PSE each fall, the changes are incremental. Here is a link to my brief summary of the improvements posted very soon after the release of PSE 2019.

There are several posts on YouTube on the difference between 2018 & 2019. Search for "Elements 2018 vs 2091". How To Gurus has one and he says you probably don't need to upgrade if you have 2015 or higher but to watch the video to see if there's something there you're interested in. I have 2018 and am passing on 2019. In fact, it may be a setback.
