first duckings (hooded merganser)

I was expecting them for some time but I just spotted this mother with 9 kids yesterday. They were far, barely visible by the naked eye, but is shall try again today. Hopefully making better pictures. Probably there will be fewer ducklings as a large heron was not far. I would not post normally the last two images but I got emotional.
Taken in Alexandria VA with a sx70hs with the zoom extended to about 2000mm.

Well sergio, I think #3 is fascinating: mom on guard and a little shelter for the young'uns should keep that big blue predator away.
