Whooooah.... When did Panasonic slip a FF sensor camera past us...
Well now, that's interesting. Originally Leica was poised to be part of the 4:3 movement (consortium) but appeared to have dropped out. They have certainly done a large part in participating with the Lumix name, in collaboration with Panasonic. Nikon/Canon certainly have a bit more competition in the mirrorless market.
I just watched a review of the 24 Mp FF S1, and the new camera MUST CERTAINLY be weather resistant if not waterproof. The reviewer was drooling all over this S1.
Question, burkphoto, are you saying that the list of lenses that fit 4:3 mounts will all fit the new S1 and S1R. WOW! SHUT THE DOOR!!!

No, those are two completely different systems. The Leica L mount is much wider. I'm not even sure that the L lenses could be adapted to Micro 4/3, but we'll see what happens. Micro 4/3 lenses' projected image circles are too small to cover the full frame format sensors.
Yes, the S1/S1R are weather resistant. I have a GH4 that has been through a couple of thunderstorms. I wiped it off and never had any problems with it... But I use lenses that are weather resistant, and I keep hoods and clear filters on them in the rain. The mounts of my zooms have O-rings on them. Not all Micro 4/3 lenses are similarly equipped.
While I did find a reference to an optical viewfinder, I cannot find any images of the camera actually showing one. I assume the reference was a misprint?
It was, and still is, a MILC camera based on the images I can find of it. Have you got any pictures of the camera and its Optical viewfinder to share?

I believe the VF was optical TTL.
