Let me tell you, that the D3 is a hell of a professional camera. It has the same sensor and number of megapixels than the D700 but the AF motors are more robust and the image processing is awesome. Make an enlargement to a 20x30 inch size and enjoy looking at all of the details present. The number of actuations your new camera has I can barely call it a break-in.
Good luck to you and if it helps, Ron Magill who is the official photographer for the Miami-Dade Metro Zoo and a Nikon Ambassador a few years back showed me a picture of a tiger shot after a prey in India at ISO 12,000. It was an amazing shot and all the details were there.
Ron is going to have an exhibition of his images in the Metro Zoo next week. Some of his images with this camera will be there.
Your new camera just hit the jackpot when she was selected by you. Congratulations Mr. Ed.

I’m wanting to see if the larger pixels will inhance my images. If nothing else it’s good exercise for my near 80 brain. Thank you all for the great responses. Ed
The larger pixels will definitely enhance. Also should be less noise now. You got a great one with only 25k clicks
...and, now you can quit the gym...
Anything in your hands, Ed, will work just fine.
Can't wait to see your next masterpiece.
Ed I have enjoyed your work ever since I started following UHH. I can only feel that this change will enhance it to an even higher level.
Best of luck with the learning curve and I look forward to seeing the results.

Just bid and won Nikon D3 with 25k clicks. Want to tame the best. Wish me luck. Ed
Having seen your photos, I'm pretty sure you would get great results with a Kodak Instamatic. Good luck.
Great idea. I think you are gonna have a lotta fun with that thang. It is great in low-light situations as a prior contributor mentioned.
Have a fun time!

Ed, best of luck with the D3. You don't need luck, your flower photos are just great. I think you would do great with a pin camera made from a shoe box. Keep those super photos comming.
Dave
Congrats from one who used to haunt eBay bidding on stuff at the last moment. It adds to the thrill of getting that nice piece of equipment. Enjoy!
How much are they going for now?
From what I have read, Ed, you have made a very good choice, good luck.
Congrats Ed. I am looking forward to seeing posts using this camera...

I got mine for 690.00 shipped. Mine has 25k clicks. Some are selling for 700 to 1200+ with 250,000 clicks.
Never buy a camera with out knowing the usage. Good luck. Ed
