These are book/magazine quality, Sylvia. Gorgeous!

(My mother --a Campbell-- always told us kids we were heir to some castle in Scotland. If this is the place she was talking about, I hereby claim the third floor in the turret on the right. Looks like there'd be a good view from there.)

I'm with you Jim.

WOW! These are beautifully done Sylvia. What a magnificent place inside and out. Thank you very much for the tour. I can't remember why the name Inveraray sounds so familiar, but I don't think it was because of the Inveraray Castle.

As a Scotsman of the Ogilvie clan I have to tell you that your photos are just beautiful, inside and out. As a collector of firearms I love the circular display of firearms that look to date from the mid 1700' to early 1800's. A couple look to be missing the hammer but all are in excellent shooting condition. My heart was racing with excitement at seeing them.

You did really well, as always with your photographic excellence.

Dennis

Thank you so very much Dennis for your great compliments I do appreciate them. You would have enjoyed looking in the glass cabinets at all the different pistols etc. on display.

We drove to Inveraray yesterday and I took a stroll around the Castle. The gardens were beautiful. No camera flash was allowed inside the Castle.

An Inveraray Castle has been standing on the shores of Loch Fyne since the 1400s. The castle was built in the Gothic Revival style. Work on it began in 1743, which replaced an earlier 15th-century castle.
The castle of today was the result of a fire in 1877, with the addition of the third floor and conical roofs on the corner towers.

It has been the seat of the Dukes of Argyll, Chiefs of Clan Campbell, since the 18th century. The 13th Duke and his family live in private apartments occupying two floors and set between two of the four crenellated circular towers. Recent renovations included the installation of the first central heating in the house. It is a Category A listed building.
