What seminary did you study Greek at?

You can take an English translation such as the NASB, NIV, or KJV. It's very clear about what Paul is saying. I'm in agreement with Pavich. The only deviation that I would allow is what I have already indicated....in situations where male leadership is unavailable. Hopefully, if your pastor teaches the Bible expositionally she would have covered those passages in her long period of time preaching the Bible. I do hope she preaches the Bible.

No doubt you do study the bible and you choose commentaries that support your beliefs. But you neither have the skill set nor the resources that enable you to do exegesis.

Texts such as the NASB and NIV are based upon sound exegesis and readers of these English texts may be confident in the their translations of the Greek texts. Users of the KJV, too, may be confident in the reliability of that translation. We may be thankful for the Greek and Hebrew scholars who have done the exegetical work to provide us with reliable translations for many languages. It is not necessary for an individual like Pavich to do Greek or Hebrew exegesis in order to be knowledgeable in the Word of God. Referring to commentaries by individuals who have done exegesis is certainly helpful.

If you've read the thread you'd know it isn't.

All of which illustrates your woeful lack of knowledge on this subject.

So now that we've established that you don't know anything about the translation and transmission of the bible, don't bother to say anything further about it...you are speaking from a place of ignorance.

I've done a LOT of studying in this area and have no issues with many translations; 99% are fine, some better than others but in no way does that mean that no version can be correct.

I'd discuss any specifics about the certain translation choices but since you don't actually know anything about it, it would be a waste of time.

Right, I am the head of my household, not the church. And also correct, Jesus is the head of the church. As the head of the church my wife correctly depends on the Holy Spirit to lead her in ministry, and not me.

I went back through the thread and came across this post which is enlightening. The Word of God, above all, should lead us in ministry. The Holy Spirit empowers the preaching of that Word of God. By that, I mean, as the Word of God is preached the Holy Spirit will work within the hearts of individuals who hear it. We must be faithful to the Word so that the Spirit can do His work. We must remember Luther and Sole Fide, Sole Scriptura.
