Downloading Youtube videos

I have used RealPlayer to download videos from Youtube. However, since yesterday I am unable to do that. When I attempt to download something a message pops up from RealPlayer that says "No videos found at this web address". Does anybody else use RealPlayer to download Youtube videos and are having the same issue. I downloaded something the day before yesterday and had no problems. And I use the free version of RealPlayer. Does anybody know if Youtube did something to prevent videos from being downloaded? I downloaded and reinstalled the RealPlayer app but it didn't help.

I have another program for downloading videos before I went with RealPlayer. When I tried it I got the same message about "no videos".

Have you tried Save From Net? I haven't used it in a while, but it used to work.

I have used RealPlayer to download videos from You... (show quote)

I use VLC Media player to download and view YouTube videos. After reading your post I tried three and all successfully downloaded and played.

Thanks for the tip but I shut my computers down every night. That means I reboot daily.

Thanks for the info. I Googled on how to download videos using VLC and found out how to do it. Or at least how one person does it. A little more involved than using RealPlayer but it did work.

There is some toing and froing to do, and it is easier with two monitors. I find the quality (especially sound) is much better than copying via movie screen shot (Movavi screen capture) which also works.

I do use two monitors so that helps. It does seem to download the video faster than RealPlayer. I used the free version of RP so I was limited to 5 mb/s download speed. I was thinking of upgrading to the paid version but since it doesn't want to work anymore there is no point in spending the money. I don't use RP for anything other than the Youtube download ability.

I'm using a MacPro right now, since my PC needs repair. It allows me to save something on youtube to a "reading list." Although it is not saved on my hard drive, it does allow me to recall that particular video. I could also put it in my bookmarks. If I ever wanted to share it I could recall it from either place, copy the location and then paste the location where I wanted to share it. Unfortunately, it doesn't give my the option to "save as" as it does with photos.

After checking again last night it looks like I was a little hasty in saying it seems to download faster. In actuality it is a lot slower, about 5 mb/sec for RealPlayer and less than 2 mb/sec with the VLC. VLC works but it isn't nearly as easy and convenient as RP and is slower to download.

I was hoping somebody would know why RealPlayer doesn't work with downloading Youtube videos anymore. I don't use RP for anything else.

Good news, for me anyway. I tried RealPlayer Downloader again and it looks like it is up and running again.
