Got a D7200 recently and discovered there is no way to clip on a screen cover like I have for my D7000. They make a thin protector that somehow mounts directly on the screen but it sounds to be prone to wrinkles and can be snagged at the edge and peel off. Without a cover, has anyone had problems with scratches on the screen? I’m not a heavy user but am wondering if an LCD screen even needs protection. Your thoughts or experience would be appreciated.

G .. in this Topic Post, I did, on Nov. 5th, 2017 - you can see the Schott protector on the D7100 …

Real GLASS LCD Protectors … any good?

See the 2nd page, for pics …

The Macro Shots - show the amount of wear the glass took on, two years after installation …

I’m in the minority here (the only one) but it’s not the first time. Don’t bother with the cover. It just becomes one more thing to worry about. You’ll be fine.

Cam - bought a used Nikon D90 a few years ago, and its LCD was pock-marked worse than Richard Burton's face … finally, chose to send it back after my 30 days was up, because I couldn't see what the pictures were all about, in Review Mode ... so, it IS a concern … Nikon screens DO get damaged. Not the case with Canon, as most of their LCDs are the fully-articulating type which you can close before bagging the camera.

Worse than Richard Burtons face? I'd replace that too.

Sorry if I am a day late and a $ short but just found this.
I too have had the D7000 and now the D7200. I used/use the Larmor, LCD Screen Protector and purchased a kit that also has the protector for the screen on top of the camera. The protector is ultra thin, easy to apply and has been very durable for my purposes.
I found the mail packages.
1) DigiKit
3837 Baylake Trail
North Las Vegas, NV 89030

2) GoShot Camera
172 Trade Street
Lexington, KY 40511

I also purchased from Cowboy Studio

Good luck. Sorry if I am too late.

Not alone. A couple of us already said we felt that the current screens are durable enough. But if it makes folks more comfortable with more scratch protection it is good that it is readily available.

I had the same concern as you when I bought my D7200 2 months ago. I ended up getting a Phantom Glass LCD Screen Protector from B&H Photo for $34.95 with free shipping, no tax. When I got it I was worried that I wouldn't get it on right. I peeled off the back and carefully laid it on the screen and it looked perfect. Since then I have totally forgot that it was on the camera until I read your post. This screen protector is the exact size for a number of Nikon cameras. For anyone with a different camera, go online to B&H and do a search for Phantom Glass. They have many sizes for different cameras. I am 100% happy with this screen protector. Here is a link.

I installed an LCD cover on my D7100 when I first bought it. It had a cover for the main display as well as the LCD near the shutter release. Best investment I made for the camera.
