Yesterday was the perfect day for spotting gators - cool but brightly sunny - many of the gators at the nearby Viera Wetlands were out catching some rays. On our 45-minute walk we passed about a dozen gators.
It isn't near Melbourne, is it? That's where my brother-in-law lives..... However, in Florida, where there's water, there is a possibility of these creatures.

Thanks, all. We didn't see any really large threatening gators. There were between 18 inches and 4 feet. So they weren't too scary to walk by, but still keeping a distance. The Viera Wetlands can get pretty busy - they allow cars on the road, except when it has rained and the roads are wet, they get soupy and develop lots of potholes, which we volunteers have to fill. So this weekend the roads were wet and no cars were allowed in, so walking was pretty peaceful. Not everyone wants to - of can - walk several miles around the loop roads.

Are leashed dogs allowed in, and are there a lot of birding opportunities?
