Here is an alternate video to watch on balancing. This goes into how to make it slightly out of balance in both RA and DEC so as to minimize gear chatter. The rule here is for RA, make the back end of the scope slightly heavier. And for DEC, make the east side heavier.

Ed , Rod is one of my old astro friends and he does know his stuff and my lxd55 has to last till xmas . I've got a worn out screw mount in my dec saddle and it isn't going to be able to last with all the weight. I'm going to "JB Weld" the screw into the worn out hole and hope that'll last till then. I've been deaing with it for months .
