Photo printer for grandkids - suggestions??

Last Christmas we gave our granddaughters, Audrey (9 yrs old) and Sofia (11yrs old) each a Kodak PIXPRO FZ 43 camera, one in black one in red, plus a AA charger, many NiCad cells, a lens cleaning pen, and 2 pouches to carry the cameras. The kids have really enjoyed the cameras, and have taken many good shots. They are using PhotoShop or Elements for some creative manipulation. We've been pleased with the care they've taken with the cameras.
We think that a printer might be in order. I use a Canon Pixma Pro 100, but that might be overkill for the kids, both in price and size. I think something which would print up to 8 x 10 photo quality - of course! - and moderate operating cost would be in order. (All too often the cost of carts soon exceeds the printer cost!) Any thoughts out there??

I have Canon Pixma MX 922 and Pro 100 printers, using the 922 for quite some time before buying the 100 because I wanted a larger print size than the A4 (8.27 × 11.69 inches) maximum of the 922. The 922 is an all in one printer, prints, copies, scanner, fax) but is, I believe, considered a photo quality printer. I was very surprised by the quality of it's color photo prints, often as good as the Pro. It is much smaller than the Pro and uses 5 ink cartridges instead of 8 for the Pro, thus being more economical to use. The 922 does have wifi. I don't know about current pricing - AFAIR I paid about $99 but that was some years ago and probably on sale.

Your question made be think about what I might get my two grand daughters at some future time (they're still too young for a computer and printer now). I think yours might find the copy, fax, and scanner useful also.

I hope this is of some help.

Thanks for the post! Looking at the various choices out there, operating costs for carts is a real concern. We'll furnish the printer and a set of carts and some paper, but after that its up to the kids' parents.

why inkjet? I recently purchased from Newegg a Xerox Phaser 6022 $90 Amazon. No dry ink, no typical inkjet ink cost.... aftermarket carts are low cost and do a lot of printing. I use Gloss Color Premium Hammermill. Make their life fun economical and sure.

Do I an inkjet, certainly if I want to get artistic... a Canon TS9020 and in the closet, a canon pro 100... unopened.
