For the past 50+ years I have pursued my career as a wildlife biologist as well as my pursuit of nature photography and have traveled to many parts of the country and to several Central and South American countries and Africa to photograph birds and wildlife. I utilize these images primarily to develop PowerPoint programs for grammar school children who will never experience many of the joys of nature as I have.
Beginning with the Arizona Game and Fish Department, I then became employed by the U.S. Forest Service as a biologist on a 4-agency team working to recover the California condor. After 5 years in Southern California I was transferred to north Idaho where I conducted studies on ospreys, mountain caribou and grizzly bears. In 1980 I returned to California as the Forest Service Group Leader for the Pacific Southwest Region Endangered Species Program.
Following several additional assignments, including National Old Growth Habitat Coordinator, I retired from the Forest Service in 1991 and began environmental consulting work that has taken me to all corners of this country. In 2001 we moved to Paradise, California, considering this our final move, but circumstances involving the recent wildfire determined we make one last move and we’ve settled back here in Eureka, CA where hence we began our journey.

Welcome to the UHH!
I look forward to seeing your images, you must have a great archive of past images and are in a location for great new ones.
You have lived in some very beautiful places and had a very fulfilling career path.
Well, just looked it up*, Eureka is away from the forest fire zone. But in the Tsunami zone - but no matter where you go they have something that can come along that is bad. Even my home town in Western Kentucky is on the edge of the tornado zone and smack in the New Madrid Fault Zone for relatively rare, but BIG, mid-continent earthquakes.
*Retired classroom teacher, history, government, geography - research and looking stuff up is habit.
How dull life would be without the unexpected.
Welcome to the forum. Hope to see your images posted.
Welcome & interesting career.
You will do just fine here. Hope to see some of your photos soon.
Welcome to the Forum, WD, enjoy.
