You missed the part where I said that conservatives would never support handing out checks, it would be more along the lines of focusing on education and funding in blighted areas where education is all but absent in the schools, focuses on rebuilding opportunity in opportunity deserts... It may or may not be irrelevant depending on whether or not they were ever slaves in the United States. However, no one is talking about reparations to anyone who had ancestors as slaves in other countries.
In fact, I don't even know whether I support it or not at this point because I don't know all the facts, and no one has come up with a proposal.
I know, waiting for the facts isn't popular with the right wing but I suggest you give it a try.

*I* don't owe reparations. Reparation is restitution for something you did and/or allowed to happen.
If anybody- including Trumplestiltskin- actually gave a dam there'd be dozens of FBI guys down there diligently and ferociously finding those responsible, and locking them up for a multitude of crimes, including terrorism. This is an event akin to the Boston Marathon bombing.

Americans have been trying to fix the societal deficiencies toward blacks since the day after the Civil War ended. Since the 1960's we have spent Trillions of dollars trying to get the black people educated, working, playing Midnight basketball (in the Clinton years) and on and on. America has tried Affirmative Action as well. Years ago in a conversation with a black friend he surprised me by saying the black man's worst enemy is himself. Many have risen to greatness by getting an education, working hard and getting ahead. In the past 50 years black people, as a group, have excelled in many fields of endeavor. While some still complain they are being held down by whitey we have had a black President, black Secretary of State, more blacks in Congress than ever before and so on. Many of our business leaders, attorneys, doctors and so on are black. But still the Liberals push their narrative that we, meaning white people, have to do more to help the black man lift himself up in society. To think that the black man might consider doing some of his own lifting is thought to be a racist thought. Perish the thought that someone should work to lift themself up.

Perhaps reparations should be paid to every white person in America because it was mostly whites who fought and gave their lives to end slavery. Why don't I ever hear that mentioned? Thousands of men died to free the black man. Why don't we ever celebrate those men?

Yes, I realize to some I am a racist just because I voice these concerns. So be it.
