My new lens and a loon. . .
I had much better light yesterday afternoon. I was able to shoot at 1/1000 sec., f6.3, and ISO 400. This image is uncropped. This 150-600mm Sigma really helps my reach.
I usually have problems showing much detail in the loon's very black head feathers, but the sun was over my right shoulder, and the bird turned his head in this shot to catch a bit of sun on his face which really helped.
I tried several times, without success to upload the original file. I re-exported it at 80%. It changed the file size from 18mb to 7mb. Upload failed again re-exported again at %50 and a 2.4mb file size. Not sure what it will do to the quality, and I'm not sure if this is typical for this site, or is it a problem with my ISP. We are way out in the country and don't have high Internet speeds.

Hi Dave, the loon looks good. For creating upload files, have a look at this post that suggests how to reduce the pixel resolution rather than the JPEG quality to address the file sizes of your online posts:
