Recently in the discussion of mono pods someone gave a link to a cork top (ball type) hiking stick that doubled as a mono pod. Can who ever gave out this info please give that info again? Thanks so much.

Mine does not have a cork handle. It is a rubber grip and wrist strap. I love it. It is the Vanguard VEO CM-264 carbon fiber monopod. Folding height is 21 inches (fits in my suit case). Extended height is 63 inches and weighs one pound. The load capacity is 13 pounds. It has three extension tubes with flip latches and a foot with a rubber pad or it can be moved (screwed) to expose a metal tip to stabilize it. Got it at B&H.

REI has them... Tracks brand hiking sticks with a knob that screws off to reveal a screw for a camera
I wouldn't mind it if my monopod (a regular Manfrotto) had a screw off for brandy or vodka.
On a serous note the Monopod is my got to stabilizer. I an running festival next week I can
hike it to 6 foot plus and see the LED turned down for high shooting crowd. Or hold it
to my right for interview questions with my eye on the people and the LED monitor at the
same time. If on a balcony or something high I can tilt is down for stability. Mine has a smaller
video head my bigger one is too heavy. You can use the monopod like the poor man's steadicam
close it up use and move it around carefully.
Thanks for all the replies...I found what was talked about & what I might want @ REI.

Congratulations...I love REI.
I think I was the culprit.
Mine is a Leki and it has a round WOODEN knob on top. I haven't seen that model lately. The newer model Lekis that have the camera mount appear to be better IMHO. More durable and less likely to get beaten up.
However, that one has been discontinued by the manufacturer. Leki makes excellent sticks, but you will have to look elsewhere for a good photo trekking pole.
I've used a monopod for years. I supported my camera and lens on assignment shooting mostly sports and it doubled as my hiking staff on many memorable treks and backpacking trips. After replacing the rubber foot on the bottom due to wear a couple of times, it finally was in need of total replacement. I looked at some of the trekking poles - I think Leki was one - but felt they were too delicate for my use. My use is heavy duty, I lean heavily on it, often using it to support my weight as I regain my feet after a low shot. Notably, my replacement is another Manfrotto, and I felt more comfortable with the aluminum version rather than carbon fiber.
