Hi Dennis.
I went to Nojoqui Falls just about a year ago to take so me photos, but have not been there this year, nor to Solvang. Although my friend Chris went to Solvang a few weeks ago when photographing a youth rugby match.

I will be on my way to Idaho in a week or so but possibly when I get back, maybe the end of November we could meet up in Solvang or somewhere for lunch or breakfast and take some photos.

Dennis, it sounds like Photonat and you and I are fairly close to some interesting photo opportunities. Check in when you are back and we can photograph the Solvang area......

That sounds like a great idea. I had not intentionally left you out with my conversation to Photonat but thought I would present a similar offer to you when you got back to me.
Possibly the Santa Barbara Mission would be another place to visit. May I ask where you live.

I’m in Goleta, so photographing waterfowl at Lake Los Carneros and the Goleta slough are magical places to take your camera.......Santa Barbara Andree Clark bird refuge is a great spot for ducks and pelicans. And close to Lake Cachuma.......the Mission is stunning, especially when the rose garden is in bloom! Santa Barbara’s courthouse is especially beautiful with its sunken gardens. Check in with me when you are back from Idaho.

Figueroa mountain is part of the Los Padres forest, close to the neighboring town of Los Olivos in California. Although our wildflowers aren’t quite as spectacular as our Southern California neighbors, we’ve got a beautiful bloom going on Grass mountain (visible from 101 freeway!) and along the Figueroa mountain drive. Goldfields, shooting stars, sky lupine and poppies are making a gorgeous showing...and I’ve snuck a chocolate lily in there for you as well. Isn’t nature fantastic?
beautiful...those wildflowers are putting on quite a show!

As a deputy sheriff in the 70's I patrolled all around Goleta. Of course the rest of Santa Barbara County too, from the Ventura County Line up to Santa Maria occasionally. I lived in the North Fairview area South of Cathedral Oaks. I used to photograph and fish Lake Los Carneros back then when my kids were little. In fact I just looked at a picture yesterday of me and my daughter on a small raft on the lake. I was out there a couple of years ago and saw it is a terrible sight now. I could not even see the lake, just a few trails in the area. I was pretty discouraged at how the county could let such a beautiful place go.
Yes, I will get back to you when I come back down. In the meantime I need to fill my freezer.

Thanks for checking in Swamp-Cork!
That sounds like fun.
Also to let you know, just south of Harmony, Ca, on the south bound side of Hwy. 1, there is a trail called the Hamony Headlands trail through canyons out to the coast(about two miles one way to the coast, then trail continues on). Easy, wife dirt road trail, a little incline, but not arduous, benches about every quarter of the way. I have just heard that wildflowers are popping up there now. I want to get out there again soon. In fact yesterday I was thinking, I want to go to Harmony Headlands and Figueroa Mtn., Which way do I head first?LOL

phv and Dennis,
If either or both of you would be interested in going to take some photos, would enjoy meeting you. Have either of you heard of Harmony Headlands trail near Harmony, CA, or Knapp's Castle on E. Camino Cielo, off Hwy 154. Also great photo ops I wanted to mention.
By the way, thanks for protecting us as a law officer. Much appreciate our protectors in uniform!
I work part time(at the moment very part time) in the nursery department of an Ace hardware store in Nipomo. So have several days off a week I could meet. I did just start an 8 week Community Ed. Photo class at Hancock College on Thursday afternoons.

Sounds like a plan. When Dennis gets back, we should meet. I live by the monarch butterfly preserve as well, so the fall is a great time to capture these beautiful creatures.
That sounds great.
Beautiful shot. May I ask, what mm lens did you use to get this shot?
