I have had to reinstall lightroom and all my settings have gone. I cannot remember how to get the image created in photomatics to open beside the originals. I hope this makes sense

Can you explain what you did to "reinstall lightroom"? Which Lightroom? Where is the catalog? What are you doing to get from Lightroom to Photomatics? Are you looking at your photos in a collection or folder?

Do you mean your catalog is gone? If you had created an image with Photomatix and you still have your catalog, it should still be there. Or, are your Photomatix images simply stacked beneath your original? Clicking the numeral in the Grid view should reveal what's beneath it.

I’m probably not being clear. I downloaded lightroom through creative cloud. Once I have processed the images in photomatics it is saved tp lightroom at the end of all my photos. It is not stacked.

Are you opening a file in Photomatics and saving it in Photomatics? Are you starting in Lightroom, selecting a photo and doing an "Edit in..."? Can you list your work flow steps?

I start in lightroom export 3 images to photomatics and save it back to lightroom from photomatics. Photomatics is accessed through export rather than edit in.

I think that's your problem. In LR, you should highlight the photos you want to process in Photomatix, then select "Export With Preset," and choose Photomatix. If Photomatix isn't a choice, you may need to reinstall it for LR to be aware of it.

Watch this video. It shows that you use Export. But, when Photomatix is installed, it puts in a plug in. So, when you export the images a choice for Photomatix shows up. Then a dialog with a check box to cause the new image to import back to LR.

At the end of the video he talks about this very issue and how to solve it by clicking on all photographs just above the film strip

Leah Ruth, what is Photomatrix and why do you think you need it?
