Bless the wife...she got me an I mac...but.
But at a garage sale...it's an I mac G3...ya know the one that came in fruit flavors...She said...I thought you really wanted a Mac...(she knows more about computers than I do)...I have to respect the joke...so I cant use it for a boat anchor anytime soon...
Anyway, does anyone have any idea where or how I can get software for it...I need to update the broswer from IE 5
so I can connect to the internet...any ideas, suggestions?
It might actually be fun.
Thanks in advance

If it's one of the jelly beans, you can't update it. It's useless as a computer, sorry to say.

We have more laptops than we need...just thought it would be fun to play with...I dont want to upgrade the machine itself...just want to know if there is any runnable software out there...I have found some...but since I cant upgrade browsers or anything else without an internet connection...
It boots and has some standard old mac stuff on it...
just curious...she paid almost $9. for it
There are clubs of Mac users that go all the way back to the Lisa that came out just before the Mac, Mac Plus, Mac SE, and on. My Mac Plus still works but needs a new floppy drive install (yes they can still be found). I traveled the world teaching MGM CAD/CAM/CAE, AND Micro Graphics, my computer still has a evaluation copy of Photoship on a Mac and same of Auto Cad (not good in Mac format, but fantastic now).
Contact the Mac Groups, they have some software. Good luck to you, there are some really fun programs still out there.

Thanks!...it will be fun..and I'll let you know how it turns out!
What OS is it running?
If it has a slot loading CD, you should be able to install Linux. Google "Linux for G3 iMac."
Linux has come a long way in the past decade. It's worth it for GIMP. Teamed up with Inkscape and you can do a wide range of photo editing. Add Scribus and you can do a wide range of layout.

I wonder if there is a collector's market for something like that. I'm sure there is someone who has a who room full of old computers.
There are a lot on eBay, but not much interest.
