Monitor Question

I am purchasing a new computer/moniter and am looking at monitors best for photographs. Has anyone here used the View Sonic VP2770 LED monitor? It has 1.07 billion colors shown. I'm thinking this might be a plus when it comes to printing the images.

I have read some of the previous threads about monitors, and this one seems to shape up, except that I'm not sure how close it will get to Adobe RGB color space.

Just looking for feedback from anyone who has used this monitor or this company.

Thanks!

I have the View Sonic 2702 now for almost 2 years...now its not LED but it is great for photos. Amazing color and details and the size really makes a huge difference when viewing.

LED refers to the back/side lighting of the monitor some are better illuminated overall than others.

I just bought a new monitor, a Dell Ultrasharp U2410. In my research I found a LED backlight is not ideal for for photographic manipulation. From what I understand it affects the true color of the images.

So far I'm happy with my purchase. However, I'm just an amateur hobbyist. Far from an expert.

I do hope the monitor is an IPS monitor?

Have the Dell Ultrasharp #2410 and in my search before I bought, this one came out on top of the heap. The biggest thing I like about it is it's factory calibration which holds true to the point I wouldn't even buy a calibration tool for this monitor. I calibrate ever 2 weeks and every time I do I could kick myself for the Spyder 4 calibration tool I spent $140 on. The adjustments are so minor and it sics perfect with my printer perfectly. I have to say their monitors are one thing I have to give Dell a big thumbs up to.........

If your not the type that walks into a men's room with a ruler the 24" Asus Portrait Art IPS monitor is a great photographic monitor for less then half the price. One great feature is the screen can easily be swiveled for full screen portrait shots

Before you purchase your new monitor, ask the stores technical people to show you the various adjustments and make sure that it will calibrate to your wants and needs.
Some monitors are so bright that its difficult to get them to acceptable levels and some don't allow the fine tuning of RGB channels. Bright monitors aren't your best friend and won't calibrate correctly.
