Quality matters defiantly, I only use SanDisk, extreme pro.

I have always used SanDisk and PNY and have never had a problem. I always buy the highest class and speed rating.

Yes, do buy the fastest card you can from one of the quality companies such as SanDisk, Lexar, Transcend, and PNY. I prefer the SanDisk brand.

Another thing to note, is always buy from a reputable dealer. There are a lot of counterfeit memory cards available on the Internet.

I will only buy Sandisk and Lexar - never had a problem with either of them.

Have you checked your camera's manual to see if it says anything about compatible cards? If you have had your camera for a while, the fastest, largest capacity, most expensive cards may not work.
For example, for my camcorder class 10 that is NOT Extreme Pro will work. Or the class 4 works fine.

Sandisk Ultra and remember the newer cards also show a small "I" on them

Don't know what you shoot with but Nikon only "approves" Sandisk, Toshiba, Panasonic, and Lexar cards.

You can even wash your Sandisk in the washing machine. It keeps the outside clean and washes noise off the images I think! Mine did survive its cleaning with no apparent injuries! Not recommended, though.

Probably OK, but don't iron them afterwards. :D
