Everyone has that one shot, taken in a split second and could have easily missed forever if it weren't for divine intervention or a bit of luck. I'd like to see your shot and hear the story behind it.
Here's mine:
I call it 'Tortured Tree'. I was 4-wheeling on the Slick Rock Trail in CA. I was taking general snapshots of jeeps and people etc... Well for anyone who has been 4-wheelin in the mountains, you'll understand what the term 'rock crawling' is, and that at times, you dare not stop. Well this was one of those shots. Taken in a split second while bumping down the trail in a particularly 'slick' section on the trail.
I did win second place in a contest with this shot, and it's my favorite photo ever, it's even my screensaver. ...and oh, BTW, it's also copyrighted.
Tortured Tree, Slick Rock Trail, CA
I feel fortunate to be at the right time and place for shots like this

Loved the tree shot. Where is slick rock trail in California/
For some people these shots are an everyday occurance, but the way I love turtles to get 2 shots (unedited) like that in one trip with my little Cannon D10 was one of those times.

I have to backtrack, I may have put those shots thru Picasa. Sorry.

Very nice, Is that water or sky?
Oh, my Tortured Tree shot, no editing! That is 100% mother nature.
The 'tortured tree" shot is another gift from mother nature
reminding us to look for the good things around us. Technically it seems impossible for a tree that size to grow where it's at, much less the grotesque form it became...A beautiful picture.
Thank you. The others were great too, but this shot was my favorite.

Thank you! Actually that tree is only about 3feet tall. It was probably 100 years old or so. It is a fine example of what the Japanese try to create with their bonsai trees.
Well that tree's height sure fooled me! I guess if I had to strain that hard to grow 3 feet in 100 years I'd be twisted too.
...It's a brilliant photo. Thank you.
I'm not sure how well this will post because I could find the "real" image in my files. This is a downloaded version.
I was taking pictures of the hills in the fog when a couple of deer came running through. I though it was a pleasent addition to my otherwise blah images.
