Amen...that is exactly why they go. Tens of thousands at once gather. Higher up off of the high speed turns better choice for sure. Sporting event equals risk.

I wish someone had told be about the risk before I turned my right ankle into a jigsaw puzzle racing motocross in my high school years.

I bet there are some thrilling story to tell
Oh yeah. I actually raced more Hare Scrambles and Enduros but it's all similar. Some just take a little longer to try to kill yourself. Enduros involve too much math and actually require you to slow down at some points in the course. I never could figure how to do that. I'm normally WFO. If you've been around a track you know what that stands for. Probably why I couldn't keep a bike in good shape.
There are two reasons why people got to these races. 1- To sit/stand and watch cars being driven around in circles for hours on end till someone gets the chequer flag(kinda boring - waste of money and a day in your life) 2. To watch in the hope of seeing some spectacular crashes they would never witness else where in the real world. It's only when these crashes invade the spectators arena they get on the news programmes. As the old adage goes "Where there is motion there WILL be accidents"
There are two reasons why people got to these race... (show quote)
Not any worse than a football game. At least the drivers have to earn their money, not collect it win or lose.

I guess you've never heard of the bonus money for getting a regional/conference title and winning the Super Bowl or World Series.

I grew up across the hill from the Washougal track, I could sit in the open pasture eating wild strawberries watching the race! We had race horses needless to say dad wasn't happy when the biker boys came to town! :) I loved the radio conversations with Travis pestrana and his spotter Saturday. He was like "did you see that"
