Last night's photo shoot

We all went out for Thai food last night. Our house guest was so happy with the unexpected decision to eat out that she fixed her self up and put on a pretty little dress.

I asked her if she wanted to do another photoshoot upon our return and she was agreeable.

She is great at following direction. We talked during the shoot and I was able to capture some genuine emotions.

For this first shot, I asked her to pout and suck in her cheeks like a high fashion model. When that didn't work she started to laugh....

Whenever I shoot this young lady, we review the shots on the camera and I delete the ones she really hates. Then I edit and we get together once more to review the results. The few that are left are posted online for her family to see.

Thank you.

Still having some issues, but I think I am getting it now.

One area I still need to work on is hand placement. There is one shot were she has her hand near her neck and you can see the entire back of her hand, rather than the side. It really does look bad, but she likes that shot and won't let me delete.

Here are a couple more from that night. These are two of my favorites.

I really like them - you've captured both mood & personality with these!

Thank you.

It really helps when the model is able to follow directions and loves taking pictures.
We were holding a conversation for most of the shoot and I would ask her questions and watch for her reactions.

We have a couple more shoots in the works--a themed shoot(steam punk) and a "turn-the-tables" shoot where I'll be the model.

Very pretty lady but I think you messed up on her face with the lighting. It looks like she has pancake makeup on. But you are sure a lot farther along than I.

Lol...she is VERY pale. She often refers to herself as a vampire.

I would go back to my RAW's and see what I can do about her face, but I just had a huge fight with the wife about the time I spend with the girl. Just wouldn't do for me to open her pictures right now.

I think these shots are great. I would like to see a little more separation between your model and the backdrop, so that there would be some blurring of it to smooth out those wrinkles. The first image I find VERY pleasing with nice smooth background. All in all it was a great shoot.

They would have turned out better. I'd planned to shoot these in my bedroom, but the wife kicked us out and we had to shoot in a small space in front of the door.

I was going to shoot her again soon, but alas, things got pretty bad at home and there was a very ugly fight that lasted for three days.
Then some nasty people spread some awful rumors; my new model had no choice but to leave.

We spent the last night talking about her issues. Then I did the final edits on her shots and put the full resolution TIF's into my skydrive so that she could get them later.

She told me that I was quite possibly the only real friend she had in America and let me know that I fit into her life as a combination of a father and a big brother--kind of hard not to cry.
Before she left for good, she gave me a hug and a look that broke my heart all over again.
One final smile and she was gone.

In honor of her, I left my camera in it's bag today. And in honor of her, one final shot. Critique if you must, but I will not change a single thing about this one.

Very lovely girl for sure. I think if I was your wife I may have had some issues also. Too bad the relationship between photographer and model is perceived as sexual more times than not. I hope your house regains it's peace once again. I agree, I wouldn't change a thing in this photo.

The sad thing is that the wife truly did not seem to think anything was going on between me and this 18 year old girl.
In the end, the fighting was about a text message sent to me by the girl.
In my wife's mind, no one is allowed to contact a married man directly--even female cousins. Everything goes through the wife.
So, her mother wants a favor, she asks the wife who in turn tries to get me to do it.
I hate that. If you want something from me, ask me.
So basically wanted to punish the girl for the text. I was horrified at the way she went after a kid and risked my marriage to protect her.
Everything is good now that the girl has left our home, but I'm still shocked by what happened.

Anyway, thank you for looking.

I wonder what would have happened had I contacted someone from Model Mayhem like I was thinking before I noticed our guest.
