This old barn near Addison, Ontario, has finally succumbed to time and the weather. We'll miss the bright red roof, which brightened up the farmland around it.
How the heck could someone allow that to happen, its such a shame. Well recorded Pierre

Shame about the building, but a very good photo. I think i would be getting a wood burning fire for the living room...there's enough there to last for a while!!.
To bad they didn't keep it up.
Fine shot, tho sad to see. Old barn boards are quite popular for use in rec rooms and such. Might be a market for what's left of this, should the owner want to sell some of the ruin.

I'll bet it was a fine barn in its time...nice shot!
Crash!! Good shot, such a shame.
Two buildings gone from age, kind of sad.
Breaks my heart. I try to photograph as many as I can before they fall by the wayside also.
It is so sad that these old barns are falling into disrepair and falling down.
They were architectural wonders and now the only people who know how to build them are the Amish.
Mechanized farming and large round bales have made them impractical and obsolete.
I have a project in mind to record old barns of Ontario. It looks like I had better hurry before that have all fallen down.
Pierre, would you mind giving me directions to this barn? I'd like to add it to my collection. I know where Addison is but I could not find the barn using Google maps.
Hi Brian
The barn is on route 30 a few minutes west of Addison, which is on highway 29 going north from Brockville. It's a paved road and the barn is on the north side of Route 30.You'll have to shoot thru a wire fence (which I was able to easily edit out the photo.
We're talking about four or five minutes from Addison.
We use that road, # 30, as a short cut to 401 going via Athens to Mallorytown
And, neither of us remember the barn being down last Fall -- but perhaps we missed it.
The short cut saves about 20 minutes of driving on 401.
Good luck.
Pierre

Thank You Pierre.
I'm going to try to get down to photograph it this spring.
We have a cottage north of Sharbot Lake so its not too far from there.
I found it on Google Earth. It was still standing at the time they imaged it. It was of quite a unique design. It is a shame it was not preserved.
