This was a challenging day for me, very overcast, trying to put into practice what I learned from Understanding Exposure by Peterson, what would you do differently. To me they seem to have a grayish cast to them is that because of the lighting conditions.

Thanks Mare, these are from last weekend and they all look like they have a lot of gray in them, I'm wondering if it's because it was so overcast.
My goodness, Sandy! You did a wonderful job with these! I like the slight blue cast myself, but you could warm them up just a bit if you prefer. If these were mine I'd be very proud and leave them as they are :-)
We are all fussy when it comes to our own shots. These are GREAT!! Nothing wrong at all
Donna. You are so sweet when you are not picking on our neighbors across the pond
Jimbo, thanks for looking, I was realy trying to put into practice all the stuff I learned, and got more than a little confused. Thanks for the kind words.
Raven, thank you for the kudos, they are fun to shoot, still so much to learn.
I downloaded the first photo and applied a levels adjustment to it. It looks fantastic and tack sharp. I believe what you are seeing as a gray color cast is in fact the blurring of the BG colors. I did not see any of that on the rider or the horse. If you would like to see my adjustment to the first photo let me know, and I will post it.

Thanks for taking the time to respond CajonPhotog, I was more interested in trying to get it right in the camera and not so much in PP. I wouldn't do anything with these shots it was just practice and I thought some looked underexposed and not sure what to do in similar conditions in the future. Any thoughts?
They all look very nicely exposed...the day is just grey...and that equals flat lighting (but safe lighting :) )
They look like good shots.

rpavich, thank you for taking the time to look and comment, I sure love shooting the horse shows and can't wait for rodeo's in Montana this summer.
